■This new food box features a fresh and beautiful contrast between the metal (aluminum) lid and the wood.
The aluminum lid has a wood grain pattern routed into it and has been anodized.*
The body is made of Hinoki cypress.
(*) Anodizing
Anodizing (anodic oxidation) is a surface treatment process in which aluminum is electrolytically treated at the anode (+ pole) to artificially create an oxide film (aluminum oxide).
Aluminum readily combines with oxygen, forming a very thin oxide film when exposed to air. Because it is protected by this naturally formed film, it is generally said to be rust-resistant, or to have good corrosion resistance. However, since this film is very thin, it can corrode due to chemical reactions depending on the environment. Therefore, a surface treatment to protect the surface, namely anodizing, is necessary.
*Production will be discontinued once current stock runs out.
