【 What is Kishu Binchotan? 】
Kishu Binchotan is a hard, high-quality white charcoal (hakutan or shirozumi) made from ubame oak, etc., and is ideal for cooking and grilling.
It is produced in Wakayama Prefecture.
The high quality of Kishu Binchotan is outstanding among charcoals burned worldwide. Its excellence is attributed to the presence of ubame oak and other oak species used as raw materials, as well as the kiln structure and charcoal production methods. Furthermore, a sustainable logging method called "selective cutting" has been implemented for over 300 years, ensuring resource recycling, making it a product rooted in SDGs.
