It has been dyed for over a thousand years, long before chemical dyes were available.
It strengthens the fabric and repels water. This persimmon dyeing method is as close to nature as possible and uses no chemicals.
The persimmon juice is made from juice that has been aged for more than three years after harvesting, and the color develops when it is dried in the sun.
