Place the ingredients in boiling water and simmer for 10 minutes, then turn off the heat and let sit for a while before using.

Boil and then soak for 10 to 20 minutes to soften.

What is Sedge?
The long, slender and very sturdy leaves of the sedge have long been used as material for making hats and raincoats.
Kasage means sedge used to make hats, and sedge kasa means a hat made from sedge.
It commonly grows in wetlands and near water, and grows by spreading horizontally from underground stems, forming large colonies over a wide area. It was also commonly cultivated in the past because it was used to make straw raincoats and hats.
This is how common and familiar this species is, but in recent years its numbers have been decreasing due to the deterioration of aquatic environments.
The leaves are tough and durable and will last a long time if dried.
