＜What is a Tonsui?＞
A tonsui is a Japanese bowl with a handle (ears) used to serve individual portions of ingredients in a hot pot dish, or as a dipping sauce bowl for tempura. Originally, it was a tool for drawing water from a water pot, and its current handle-equipped shape is a remnant of that. Besides hot pot dishes, it is also used as a small bowl for simmered dishes and pickles, or even as a salad bowl, demonstrating its wide range of uses.
