■ This is a bleached cotton (wazarashi) dishcloth that has been carefully bleached, degummed, and sun-dried.
It is tailored to a convenient size of 50 x 35 cm, with carefully sewn edges.
It dries quickly even when wet, and becomes softer and more comfortable with each wash, making it increasingly easy to use. The ability to wash and reuse it many times is also a major attraction.

* "Sarashi" refers to the process of exposing fabric to sunlight and wind and rain to remove pigments from the fibers and make them white.
Wazarashi is a cotton fabric finished using traditional Japanese manufacturing methods. While the modern mainstream "automatic refining" process takes only a few hours, wazarashi carefully removes impurities over approximately four days in a large釜 (kama, or pot) without stressing the fabric.
