Among the five woods of Kiso, Sawara is the softest and contains a lot of resin, making it water-resistant and lightweight. It also has excellent moisture absorption and release properties, which helps keep the humidity inside the rice tray (tub) constant, making rice and vinegared rice chewy and delicious.
You can arrange sandwiches on it or put ingredients for your hotpot on it. Why not try using it as a "wooden platter"? You can also turn the lid over and it quickly becomes a tray. Because it is a rice tray that keeps ingredients delicious, the ways in which it can be used are greatly expanded depending on your ideas.
Pursuing ease of use and care
If you look at the inside bottom of the rice steamer, you'll notice that the corners are rounded, just like the inner pot of a rice cooker. This makes it easier to scoop up any rice left on the bottom edge and to wash it.
